China Hutch Re-do

Wow, it certainly has been a long time since I posted anything on here. But I have still been reading everyone's blog and keeping up in blog land.
I finally figured out what to do with my china cabinet that certainly was not prim at all. The above picture is what is used to look like..ugly but served it's purpose I guess. I took the glass doors off, added bead board to the back and the sides, sanded it all down and painted. The back got painted a tan color and the rest black. Lightly distressed it and I love the way it turned out. It is decorated for Christmas right now. I need to add to my Folk-art collection of dishes...do not have many, so it looks a little bare right now.
One of my many projects on the list is to add beadboard to my kitchen walls to cover up that wallpaper border...to country for my taste now. Hope everyone has a Happy Holiday Season!

I bought this redware crock from Janae of Cozy Coops Corner
She is selling some of her prims and I was lucky enough to get this from her. It is way bigger then I was expecting and I can't wait to get my fireplace mantle done as I think that will be the perfect spot for this beauty.

Some new bowls

I bought these bowls at an antique mall for $4.00 I think ( was a few months ago..lol) I've slowly been working on them. I got all of the little ones done and I'm halfway done with the big one.
Here are 3 of the little ones finished. I did the usual thing...sand, base coat black, paint top coat, sand lightly and then add stain. I wasn't too sure how the white one was going to turn out as this is the first time I used antique white, but after adding the stain I love it, and it is my favorite one. The 4th one I did in mustard, but haven't found a spot for that one yet. I think I am going to do the big one in the antique white also.

Cabinet make-over

I bought this cabinet for my bathroom from Target a few years ago and while I did like it at first it just itsn't prim enough. So I did a make-over on it and love the way it looks now.

I sanded it down and painted it black and then distressed it a bit. I left the door off and like how it looks with out it. The towels, my hair dryer, etc. are hidden in the drawers instead of on the shelf like they used to be. I also re-did the jars with new labels that I printed out and glued on them.

Candle holder..ebay

New Treasures Part 1

Went to a Antique mall the other day and picked up a few treasures. Hoping to go back in a few weeks as they actually had some crocks for decent prices. I couldn't carry anything else or I would have gotten some more..lol.. The grater was only $1.00 and very old & rusty, other booths had them for $4.00 and up so this was a good deal.

This candle holder was only $1.50, very heavy treenware. Not sure if I will paint it or leave it this color yet.
Old rolling pin with green handles..$4.00 and very heavy. I replaced mine with this one in the crock in earlier post. Looks much better as it looks old compared to mine..lol
My find of the day! This crock is in perfect condition. I know it's not old but I love it. It was 20% off so I only paid $11.20. It sorta of matches my Pfaltzgraff dishes so I put in the china cabinet with it...looks really good in there. Have a few more items that I picked up, but they need to be made-over so will show you when they are done.

New Arrangement

Was moving stuff around today and I did this little new arrangement. I got the washboard off of ebay a few weeks ago and the rolling pin is mine from my kitchen drawer. I don't know how long the towel will stay there until the puppies realize they can pull it out. I want to stitch a prim saying on it though.

Stairs are done!!

This is a picture of what the stairs looked like when we moved in after we ripped up the ugly 70's orange carpet!!! They must have put a 2nd coat of stain on after they put the carpet down as towards the edges of the stairs it was darker. Can't see it in this picture.

After picture, I lightly sanded them, then stained the step part and painted the riser white after much arguing with dh about it. He wanted the whole steps stained, but I won!!! I gave in and left the railing black, I wanted to paint that white also..oh well. Looks good anyway.

Another angle and the new braided runners I got off ebay. Just put them on this morning so they are still a little curled around the edges from the package, I'm sure they will lay flat in a couple of days. Now I need to get a rug that matches for in front of the stairs. I love the way these turned out although it was a lot of work. The stain took forever to dry, but it was worth it.

Hello out there in blog land. I'm still here, just been real busy around the house trying to get some stuff done. I've redone my staircase, sanded them down and restained and painted them. I'm waiting for some braided stair runners that I bought off ebay for a great price and then I will snap a picture to show you all. I'm also in the process of redoing my mantle that I bought at a yard sale last summer, sanding & painting; still needs some more sanding then I can paint it and bring it back in the house. Another project I am currently working on is my laundry room cabinets. They were white but I've seen all the wonderful job you guys are all doing on your cabinets so I thought I would try and make mine more prim. They are almost all painted but I have to go buy the stain to put on them. If they turn out great I will also do my kitchen ones the same way. Some many projects ..so little time between work and the puppies are still keeping me busy. They are getting bigger but still need constant supervision, they are into eating everything and their playing gets a little ruff some times.
They are 4 months now, I don't have a recent picture of them both together, but they both look like this guy, this is Kody, Riley is sitting behind him eating grass as usual and would not look at me. It's so hard to get a pic of them together. Had a yard sale a few weeks ago and got rid of alot of stuff and made some money in the process, between my Mom & myself we made $250.00, not bad for a days work.
I am on vacation next week and hope to get my projects finished up and over with.
Went to a local country shop in the mall this past weekend and picked up 2 items, still looking for a place for the picture. Have a great day, until next time. I'll try not to make it so long.

Bench Make-over

I've been wanting to paint this little bench for awhile now, and yesterday I finally got it done. It was just a plain stark white before ( sorry forgot to take a before pic). It looks so much better then before and certainly better then it's showing up in this picture. I have this is my mud room, love how it turned out.

Well, I think we have totally lost our minds in my household. We went back to the breeder where we got Kody from ( last week) and brought home one of his brothers..oh my goodness..2 puppies..what were we thinking!
Seriously though it's not that bad, Kody (on left in pic) is like a different dog now that he has someone to play with, before he was just laying around and moping. He is a lot more active and alert now.
The new puppy is named Riley(on right in pic) and he is such a cutie.

New Puppy

We got a new puppy this past Monday and let me tell you I forgot how much work a puppy is...lol. He is constantly eating everything he can get a hold of so we have to keep a good eye on him. The housebreaking is going good with only a few accidents, but that was because someone wasn't watching him (it wasn't me). He does goes in a crate at night and he wakes us up when he needs to go out so that is working good. He was 8 weeks exactly when we brought him home. His name is Kody and he is the cutest little thing. As most of you know, we lost our Kasper 2 months ago and it has been a really hard time since then, I still miss that dog and wish things had been different. Hoping Kody will make missing Kasper a little easier to deal with. He sure makes coming home not so lonely anymore.

Here is 2 new Colonial pictures that I made up yesterday. I did a search on google for colonial pictures and then saved the images to my computer. Printed them out on regular computer paper and put them in the frame, and you can't even tell that they were printed out, they look like real pictures, and I saved a ton of money since these can go for big bucks.

Ok everyone, I need your opinions...I do not have regular oven, we have a wall oven and a separate cook top..which would be fine if the cook top would be a normal size but it's not. So I am so jealous of all you ladies that can have noodle boards for your stove tops. But I thought I would try this little tray on the top of mine and see what it looks like. I am still trying to decide it I like it there or not???? So what do you all think..yes or no???
I can't wait for the day I can replace this cook top with a glass top one.

See the weird arrangement of the cook top??? I tried the tray on an angle but I did not like that. Should it stay or go???

My heart is broken

We had to put our dog Kasper to sleep last Monday, March 16 and I miss him so much. We took him to the vet on March 11th and we found out he had IMH, it's basically where his body was eating his red blood cells faster then what he could make them.
They put him on meds to try to stop it but they were not working, he was just slowly getting weaker and would not do anything but lay on the couch.
We then took him to an Emergency Vet on Sunday March 14th and they gave him more blood, hoping that would work, but it did not and his blood count was still dropping, so the following day we took him back to his regular vet and made the hard decision to put him to sleep as we couldn't see him suffer any more.
I knew something was wrong with him the first day we took him to vet as this was a dog that would rather be outside then in the house and he did not want to go outside at all.
This was so unexpected, one day he was fine, the next he was so sick.
He was only 10 years old and had so much energy and was always ready to play, he was such a happy dog. We just lost our other one not even a year ago and we were so not ready to say good-bye to this one. We thought we would have him for another 5 years or so.
I've been crying for over 2 weeks now as it started when we saw that he wasn't getting any better and it just comes on whenever now. I miss this guy so much and it will be a long time before the hurt and anger goes away.
Good-bye Kasper, we will see you again. Have fun playing with Shadow & Hunter.

I need to find some real little cake or jell-o molds for a different look but these were really easy to do and they came out ok. My hardest part was finding a place for them. O Christmas Tree

I have had this done since before Christmas but just could not find a frame to fit. I have looked at all the dollar stores but they have had really thin frames that I did not care for. My Mom is going through her house and downsizing some stuff and she gave this to me. Hurray!!! Finally a frame that fits..thank you Mom.

Got another jar label made up, this time I just typed out the words in Microsoft Word and then printed it out. I just used regular printer paper, no problems with it sticking to the jar, just that when I wash the extra glue off with water I have to be careful or it will rip the paper. I am now on a mission to find some old graphics I can use to make some more.

Another project done

Finished another project..hurray, I'm on a roll. This is what I store my dog food in. It was just a cream color so I painted it black first then did the mustard yellow. Sanded it down just a bit (more then what is showing) but since this gets used every day I figured it would get its own wear out of it. I also did my trash can the same way (below picture) a few months ago except I used red paint.

Finally I got a project done. I have a lot started but I just haven't had the time or the desire to get them done. I'm seen around the blog world that everyone is into putting labels on everything. While I did go on ebay and do a search for them, the extra money is just not there right now ( dh is unemployed) so I printed this off line from Twigs and Sprigs website, she also has a few more there. I soaked it in some leftover coffee and the glued it to the jar. Added some cheesecloth to the top and voila...old jar. I put some clothespins in it for now, as I don't use powered laundry detergent (use liquid) so I had none of that to put in it, but for now the clothespins work.
This is where I put it, this is on top of my washer. It hids the ugly pipes..lol

Hello everyone, just dropping in to say hi. I'm still here, just been busy with everyday life, work, bills, cleaning, doing taxes, etc. I do have some things that I started but they just keep getting pushed to the side to get the other things done. Hope to get them done soon so they are out of the way. It is cold here weather wise and we have gotten lots of snow, but that is normal for this area. It could be snowing here and 5 minutes down the road, nothing. Wishing for Spring to get here...brrr!! I hate winter. Still checking out all of your blogs though and you ladies have some great ideas that I've saving to do,,like I need more stuff..lol.

I've had the pattern for this guy since last year and finally made him the other day. If you look close on the right side of his chest it looks like he has a rabbit tattoo. I showed it to dh but he says he doesn't see it, all he sees is a burn mark. oh well!! He's cute anyway.

I made this sheep from a pattern that I got from a fellow blogger and although he is supposed to be attached to a candle holder so he stands up, I thought I would show him to you guys anyway. I don't have a wooden candle holder at the moment. I put him on one of my shelves for now until I do find a wooden candle holder. Wanted to wish you all a Happy & Safe New Year! Been busy with the Holidays and family gatherings, but they are almost over now so things should get back to normal soon. Hope everyone had a nice Christmas and got want they wanted from Santa. Christmas Day was a nice quiet day at home, Christmas Eve we got together with my side of the family and exchanged presents. Bowl make-over

Picked these up at The Christmas Tree Shop 2 weeks ago and I knew that I was going to repaint them. For $1.99, why not?? I painted one black with the red showing underneath and one mustard yellow with black showing through.

Here are the finished bowls, the black is not photographing well, there is red showing through, it's just not showing up in the pic. I also drilled a hole, added some material for a hanger and then hung them up. I did not paint the inside, but once they are hung up you don't see that anyway.

Made this bag the other day and just added the snowmen, crow , candy cane and greenery to it. I did coffee stain the bag but it is not showing up in this picture, so it is darker then that.

Here are a few more items that I got at The Christmas Tree shop. There prices are so affordable there, I just wish they were closer to me, they are 1 hour away.

I got some of these bowls from there last year too, was surprised when they still had some. The sticker said $3.99, but they rang up $1.99. I will paint one black and one mustard yellow and then drill holes so I can hang them and you will never know there is a snowmen on the inside. I did the same thing with the ones I got last year, although I did not have to paint them as they were blue, green and red, so I kept them those colors. I have one from last year on my kitchen table filled with greenery and big jingle bells and you can't even see the santa inside.

They had a few different lights that were prim and dh picked me up some for Christmas (shh..it's a secret..lol) I got this one for me for now, although I'm still trying to find a place for it. This was $3.99, nice price.
I got a few other items but they are presents and I can't show them here as my Mom reads this blog..sorry Mom, you will have to wait.

Christmas Tree Shop

Was out doing some Christmas shopping yesterday and we stopped at the Christmas Tree Shop and I got a few presents and a few things for myself. This was 75% off and only cost $1.25, it's so cute. and I got them in the mail yesterday. They are made out of paper and they are so adorable. I also got 2 Yankee Candle tarts and they smell heavenly, one is pumpkin pie and the other is autumn leaf, I love that scent. Even though I put my Christmas stuff out yesterday I am going to leave these ladies out for awhile so I can enjoy them for a little while.
Vacation is going by so fast, it is Tuesday already, 5 days down..boohoo. Today I will work on my big tree and the outside decorations. Then I want to get some patterns cut out. Have a great day everyone.

Stool

My Mom picked this stool up at a yard sale this summer and it was painted a gold color. I sanded it down, painted it black and then just painted on the tree, stars and the saying. It is all free hand so it's not perfect, but I like the way it came out.

Snowmen Light

Put the finishing touches on this light yesterday. I got the pattern on-line at Tennessee Ridge (I think, sorry if I'm wrong). I used some of my candy canes that I recently did , but thought the whole thing needed more color so I took some
gingham material that I had and added that to the candy canes and it made it look better, it added the needed color. The pattern called for a 2 inch light but I did not have that so I just used a full size candle light and it came out fine.
Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving yesterday and didn't eat to much.
I'm on vacation all next week and I'm hoping to get a lot more projects done. Will share with you all when I do.

Birdhouse

I seen some of the great birdhouses that Kindra made and I asked dh if he could make me one. So being the nice guy he is (most of the time..lol) he did. We did not have any other wood except pressed plywood so the birdhouse is really rough but that's okay as I'm only going to use it in my front flower bed on top of the little ladder that I got at a yard sale this summer. I'm on the look out for a star to add to the top above the holes. I will put some stuff on it to protect it from the elements before it goes outside next spring also. Now to buy some good wood so he can make some little cabinets and shelves that I want.
P.S. Kindra I hope you don't mind that we copied your birdhouse, we do not intend to sell any.

Just something dh and I put together. I had him cut the wood a little bigger then the santa that I printed out. I then painted the edges of the wood black, glued on the santa and then dh drilled the holes for the ribbon. Added ribbon and they are complete. I think they will look good hanging from a peg rack, a cabinet or even on the tree.

Found this pattern somewhere on the net (sorry can't remember where) and thought he was cute. Finished him up yesterday; the words are supposed to be stitched on but I forgot to do that before I sewed him up so I painted them on.

Candy Canes

I got this idea from Ann at This Simple Life and thought I would try it. She used wax on her canes but since I did not have any candles to melt down I just gave them a tea bath and then added cinnamon. I bought these candy canes at the Dollar store for $1.00 for 6. Just cut the hanging string off and they are ready to go. Cut muslin or whatever material you choose to use long enough to wrap around the canes.
Put a dab of hot glue on the bottom and wrap all the way to top and add another dab of hot glue
After their tea bath and sprinkle of cinnamon.

Added some berries and tied them with a scrap of material. Their primness (is that a word) is not showing up to good in the picture, they look better in person. I want to try my next batch using wax so I have to remember to buy some candles when I next visit the Dollar Store.

Ok, this is the last room on the tour, my bedroom. The quilt set, the pillow and the rug hanging above the bed were all purchased from ebay. The cat is fake, dh bought him for me years ago.
A barn star that I only paid $20.00 for, it's a huge one too.
The top of dh's dresser. The light I put together myself, just two shaker boxes one of top of the other and the light sits inside the top one and then add some pip berries.
The top of my dresser, just a few family pictures, candle holder and a plant inside a Willliamsburg pottery piece. The painting I bought off ebay a long time ago.
Bought this off ebay also, I certainly need different items to put in here, but this is all I have at this time. I did have this on my kitchen counter but it took up too much space.
A shelf that I re-did, this matches the one in my kitchen exactly except this one is bigger. I would like other stuff for this self as well but again have to use what I have. The sampler underneath is not hung crooked, it's just the angle I took the picture. I'm not sure I like the sampler there, but I have moved that poor thing all over the bedroom and this is where it's staying for now..lol
My spinning wheel and 20 gallon crock that were purchased at auctions. I use the crock to put dirty laundry in as you can see a pair of pants sticking up..lol thought I push them all the way down..lol. Hope you enjoyed the tour of my house.

Bathroom

Chimney cabinet that I got off ebay last year. Used to have this in my laundry room but I moved it into the bathroom and it now holds my towels, etc. The sheep I bought at a yard sale last year for $3.00, the cabinet on top came from a yard sale also and I painted it and added the star. The shaker boxes also came from a yard sale and I redid them.
The shelf came from ebay (can you see I'm addicted ..lol) as well as the little sheep inside it. Then I added an old bottle with some berries in it and a candle on top. The Williamsburg pottery piece was the very first piece I bought while in New Hamsphire a few years back. Still my favorite one too.
A sampler I did and the crow holder came from a yard sale this summer.
Top of my medicine cabinet. Can change out the box as the season change.

Laundry Room

We are now in the laundry room. This is the tray I recently re-did, I just added some candy corn to the bowl for Fall. This sits on top of my washer.
This is my favorite arrangement in the whole house so far, I love the way it came out. Please excuse the power cord hanging down the wall..why they put outlets that far up on the wall in old houses I don't know. Yes, that is my pc you see in the bottom of the picture.
Arrangement in the other corner of the room. My butter churn that I re-did, my ironing board and an old crate. Like how this came out also.
Next to my washer & dryer. I use the cabinet to store my laundry soap and dryer sheets. The picture I got in New Hampshire this summer.
Country style shelf. I like the color and the distress treatment, I just don't like the country heart..need to get something to cover it up. Two Williamsburg pottery pieces and a rabbit holding a pumpkin. Would like a prim doll for here instead of the rabbit, oh well.

Ok, sorry I'm a day late, spent yesterday doing small jobs around the house and time just got away from me. So, onto the kitchen...the above picture as I'm sure you can is my table all ready for Fall. I just put a ceramic pumpkin in a bowl and added a pip berry wreath.
This is my counter top at the moment..this is the area that I really need to buy other stuff for. I like the shredder and the jars on there, but everything else can go when I find new stuff. I would like some small crocks, etc. for this area, but I have to use what I have at the moment. I also plan on replacing these counter tops and adding beadboard back splash in the future.
My bowl rack, it still needs a prim towel hanging from it, but I don't have an extra one.
Above my sink. The light I bought from Factory Direct Crafts, they have lots of prim items for really good prices.
One side of the cabinet above the sink. Looking to replace the star with something more prim eventually.

Shelf that I need to make-over, will probably paint it red. Can you see the little ghost peeking out from beneath the tree?? I sent away for him and his little friends when I was a teenager and I'm amazed that I still have them, don't have much from when I was growing up.
My quilt ladder that dh made me years ago and my shaker boxes. Do you think I should paint the ladder???
My china hutch, nothing fancy. Would love a new prim one, but until that happens I have to use this one. This is on my list of items to make-over. Planning on painting this red with the inside being tan. I'm also working on filling it with Pfaltzgraff Folk Art dishes, one piece at a time.
Candle box I redid and a Fall sampler I did last year.

This is above my stove as you can see. I'm not sure I like this arrangement though. I would prefer to have the tin barn stars and use these heavy cast iron ones somewhere else, but I don't have any. What do you all think of this area?

More of the Make-Over

More of my make-over. This is the mantle that I bought at a yard sale this summer, I still haven't refinished it yet, but I told dh to bring in it in the house anyway. I couldn't hang the picture in the middle as underneath the yellow box on the wall is the thermostat control, so I had to work around that. I kept the mantle simple for fall, just a few pumpkins and some berries. After the Holidays are over I don't know what I will do to the top of the mantle as I have nothing left over to put on it..lol
Just a little arrangement in the corner. This room is supposed to be a dining room but we don't use it for that. It is now a family/pc room.
Right at the bottom of the stairs. The lamp needs to find a new place, have moved it all around and still haven't found a place yet.
Shelf with some spools, a picture, some pumpkins, candles and a longaberger basket that I got for free.
This table used to be just plain wood and I painted it black awhile back. Need to find a way to cover up the hearts on the sides and front. They remind me of my country decor days..trying to go more prim...will take me awhile though

My quilt cabinet. This was my Grandmother's at one time. Needs something on the door and something for the top shelf after the holidays. Tomorrow I will show you pictures of my kitchen..needs lots of help in the prim department.

Total make-over

Well we are just about done with the bedroom remodel and the dust that had taken over my house for 2 months is finally gone, so since everything needed to be cleaned anyway I took everything off the walls and started over with how they were put back up. I have come to realize though that I certainly need more Prim stuff, and I don't have enough stuff to fill every space or wall but I will work on that after the holidays are over. Please forgive the pictures, my flash is not working and they came out a little dark but I think you can still see them.
The above picture is a little arrangement between my tv and quilt cabinet, I think it needs something above it and maybe another sampler or two, but I like how it turned out.
The table next to my sofa and love seat. I put out my Halloween/ Fall stuff right away also so you will see that throughout the pictures, what little I have..lol. My living room certainly needs more stuff on the walls, but I tried to space out what I do have throughout the house.

Shelf above couch, this is one of two things that did not get moved. I like this shelf there so I left it alone, just put some new stuff on it.
A full view of my couch area...needs more items on the wall behind couch and some new prim pillows. If anyone has any suggestions on what else to hang up or place around in any area, please let me know. Will be back tomorrow with more.

Tray Makeover

This is a tray that I've had for years that my Mom painted the flag on it for me. I have been seeing on other blogs all these great looking trays that people are using, so I thought I would give this a makeover.
I painted it black and then dry brushed on some mustard yellow and then sanded it down lightly to let some of the blue show through. The above picture is how I decorated it for now. It is on the top of my washer. This is a pretty big tray and I am now on the lookout for a smaller one for my kitchen table. Please excuse the next picture...as I was arranging this tray dh came in and said he has the perfect thing to add to the arrangement..
I don't think so dear!!!!

Adoption update

We got a call from the adoption agency 2 weeks ago and she told us that we have moved up to #2 on the list. We still have no idea how long the wait will be, could be a short wait or still a long time. Even after waiting all this time I still am not ready, we are finally almost done with the baby's rooms as far as the remodeling, but we still need to put down carpet in there. Still need to go out and buy a crib, etc. I want to try cloth diapers and I have yet even begun to make any. It is hard as we don't know how old the baby will be when he comes home, so I have no idea what size diapers to make or even what size clothes to buy. I have been buying bigger size clothes that would be good for any time of the year, but really don't have that much. So not prepared..lol, but so ready to hold my precious bundle in my arms!

I finally finished up this sampler yesterday and got it framed. It will eventually go in our bedroom, as soon as the remodeling project is over with and I can start putting stuff back. Just need to go to Lowe's today to pick out the molding for the 2 rooms and get a carpet for the bedroom and then we can start putting stuff back and I can finally get my stuff hung back up , etc. Then I can start on my Fall/Halloween decor.

We have a lot of wood left over from a remodel project we are currently finishing up and I've been looking for ideas to use up some of the wood, the rest we will burn in our fire pit out back this fall. Seen a picture of an Uncle Sam made out of a thin piece of wood and thought I would try to make my own with some of the wood. He turned out pretty good. Dh cut the hat and bow for me, his body is just one piece of wood. Will probably use him outside next 4th of July.

Butter churn and a great gift

I've had this butter churn for awhile (was bought at a thrift store for a few dollars ) and decided it needed a make-over. I was thinking about painting it black but then I seen one on-line somewhere that someone redid in mustard yellow and it looked really good, so I thought I would try that. I love the way it came out.
I did paint it black underneath the yellow and then sanded it down some so it would come through. Not it just needs a pip berry ring on top and it will be complete.
This is my "Pay it Forward" gift from Marie. It's a handmade dish cloth, isn't it cute. I've been wanting to try these for awhile and was going to make some for myself, but never got around to it, plus I can only crochet squares and they are boring..lol. Now I have one to try although it's so pretty that I don't know if I want to use it..lol. Thank you Marie for the wonderful gift, hope you enjoy the one you receive as well.

When I went to my Mom's on Saturday we went to a country decor store down there called the Country Grapevine and I picked up a few goodies. I want to go back in a few weeks as there was a few other things I would like to get.
This mini flag is so cute, it is hanging our front right now.
This "Believe" sign was only $7.00.
A new towel that I now have hanging from my bowl rack in the living room.
Some pip berries stems.
This "Olde Crow" plate. Didn't fit where I wanted it to go, was too big. Will find another spot for it some where.

Went to my Mom's on Saturday and while there we were going through her stuff looking for yard sale items (we are going have one next summer) and she gave me few items.
This little americana stool she found in the trash a few years ago and she exactly gave it me. I used it for awhile and gave it her and now she gave it back to me..lol. Maybe I'll paint it this time around???

Little frames

Had these little frames for a few years and never used them, so they just sat in my Christmas/birthday gift box. Was going through it the other day and decided to make-over these guys.

Just painted them both black and sanded them down a bit. I was thinking of putting a prim saying on them, but I don't know what???

More Make Overs

A few more make overs from yard sale items. The first is the purple boxes in the picture below, ugly the way I bought them, but for .10 I couldn't pass them up.

Here is what I did with them. Painted them mustard yellow with black lids and then stenciled on the words, Faith, Family, Friends that I printed off the computer. Was not fun cutting out those tiny letters..lol But they turned out nice.
This peg board was just plain wood when I bought. Painted it barn red and lightly sanded it down.

Candle Holder Make-Over

Ok, I painted the candle holder that I got at a yard sale (in picture above, top of ladder) It was just plain wood when I bought it.
Painted it black and added a mustard star, sanded it down and love how it turned out.

Complete with candle that it came with. Not sure I like the candle on it though as you can't see the star that good...lol

Won this on ebay and just got it yesterday. Like every thing else in my house right now, I don't know where it's going. We are doing some remodeling in the spare bedroom and it is affecting the whole house so I'm not putting any of my new stuff out yet. Can't wait till this project is done. I think I am going to take everything off the walls and start again, to change things around, as I have more stuff since we began this project.

Toolbox redo

I painted the toolbox that I got at a yard sale last weekend. Above is the before picture, green with yellow flowers and polka dots.
The after picture, I first painted it barn red and then mustard yellow, then sanded it down a little to show the red underneath. A few of the original yellow polka dots came through also. Have not found a place for it yet.

Saturday Finds

Went to another community yard sale yesterday in the hot, humid weather that we are having and this is all that I got. There was supposed to be 50 homes having sales but there was not that many.
The little ladder was 50 cents, put it out front in my flower bed with some little bird houses and a basket of flowers on it.
The shelf with the candle holder was 50 cents also, the candle holder came with it.
The 2 candles were .25 cents each.
The crow plaque was $1.00.
The peg board was .50 also, I will paint it when I get the chance.

There was a lot of baby stuff at the sales, you can certainly make out like a bandit at yard sales if you have kids. I know I will!! :)

Saltbox House

We have a lot of junk pieces of wood left over from a home improvement project, so I've been looking through them for pieces that I can make into things and the one above was perfect for a saltbox house. I only had to trim it down a little. Needs a little more sanding, I have to get heavier sandpaper, only have really fine stuff and it did not work to good.
These names blocks are all over ebay and etsy right now, but if I can make them myself for nothing instead of paying $10.00 or more for them, why not. They too need more sanding. (Yes, my name is actually spelled with an e on the end, but I like it without, so I use that sometimes)

This is my best yard sale find yet. The guy had this last year for $50.00 and I passed on it and I was kicking myself all year because of it. Well he never sold it and had it out at the yard sale again this past weekend for $30.00. I went home and got dh to see if we could get it home; (only have a little car) and we got it home. It needs some TLC and a new paint job but I love it. I can't wait to get it done so I can decorate it. It is not brown like the photo is showing, it is actually barn red.
So ladies, how should I paint it? Should I redo it red, or change to another color? Maybe white on the outside and red on the inside part? Ideas needed please.

Some Yard Sales Finds

Went to the community yard sale that my town and the next one was having this weekend. There was not as many sales as last year, so I didn't get much.

Some more shaker boxes to paint, think I have enough of these now..they were .5 & .10 cents
More candles, the jar candle was $1.00, smells good. The bag of votives were .25 each as well as the little candle holder with candle.
This pottery snowman was $1.50. He is cute.
An old flour sifter for .25
A wooden toolbox, needs a paint job bad.. for .50 and the picture frames were .25 each.
I have one more item to show you but I have to go out to the garage to take a picture of it, so maybe tomorrow.

New treasures

We went to New Hampshire for the holiday weekend and while there I found some new treasures. First picture is of some free stuff we picked up along side the road on the way home/ Someone had a yard sale and then put a free sign by the stuff that did not sell, so we did a u-turn and went back to check it out, besides the 3 items below I also got a bunch of kids books that I've put away. The shaker box had some flowers were the holes are, I pulled them off, will paint it and try to find some way to cover the holes.

The next 4 pictures are of some stuff I bought, love shopping in New Hampshire as there is no sale tax. The first picture I think will replace one that is in my bedroom and was $19.99. My flash was giving me problems so sorry for the bad picture.
This candle thing is so cute and was only $8.99
Dh picked this one out, American flag framed with a willow tree and crow. Was $17.99 with 20 % off.
And last but not least a metal flag for one of my flower beds.
