Goodbye Shadow

Friday night we had to say goodbye to our much loved dog "Shadow."
He was suffering from heart disease and his stomach was so filled up with fluid that it was pushing his heart forward. There was basically no hope because what they wanted to do to him, he could have died from anyway, and it meant leaving him at the vet's for the weekend and we did not want him die there alone.
We did not want him to suffer anymore so we made the hardest decision we have ever had to make, we had him put to sleep.
He was 15 years old and lived a very spoiled life and I know he is in a much better place now and not suffering anymore.

I can see the pain in his eyes in this picture and it tears at my heart.

Goodbye Shadow, we miss & love you.

Oh, Debbi, so sorry to hear about your dog. It's very sad to have to let a pet go that you've had for a long time. But, I think their spirit stays with you. We could still hear the jingling of our dog's tags long after he passed away. Something new and wonderful is going to come your way now, because Shadow has offered the vacancy:)

I'm a pet lover along with the rest of my family. Shadow reminds me of my mom's dog Lacey. She's had a fantastic life and we just want her to continue that way. It's amazing how much we learn from our pets. Unconditional love...I think that's why it's so hard to see them go. I am so sorry for your loss...

Oh Debbi, I'm so sorry to hear about your dog, I'm a dog lover too and last spring we had to put Mickey down. He was 15 and had cancer, we lasted without a dog until the end of summer that year and now we have Buster, a yellow lab we just adore him. I have his picture on my blog "Tomatoe Creek Prims" if you would like to take a look. Talk about unconditional love.

I am so sorry to read about your dog. The saying "A dog is a man's best friend" is so true. They are another human being to us, especially for being part of your family for so many years.

Thank you ladies. We do have another dog and he can not figure out what is going on, he walks around the house looking for Shadow. It's sad to watch him do that, as he doesn't understand where he went.
All he knows is that Shadow went out the front door and hasn't come back yet.

I am so very sorry for your loss. We had to put our dog, Buddy, to sleep in May last year. It broke our hearts to say goodbye to our dear companion, so I know what you are feeling. Shadow was very lucky to have you for his friend.

Im SO sorry to read this. We went thru this about 6 years ago and it was so tough. Nobody understands this unless they love their pet as a child. My dog is one of my kids. He was the best therapy for our grief after we put our dog down.
Hopefully time will heal your pain,
Stephanie
