Last treasures

The last of the roadside treasures. The basket with the ivy is one of them, I forgot to take a picture before I put the ivy in it, but you can still see it. There were 2 of these baskets and they look brand new.

Another grapevine star that I will use in my flower bed.

This is in my spare bedroom for the moment. May put this outside on my porch for spring & summer.

A mustard star with berries.

More treasures

More pictures of the roadside treasures that my Mom found. The first is a wooden kite that I put away for the nursery as I will be doing a toy theme in there.

Two americana pictures that I put in my bathroom.

I took this apart and used the stars throughout my house, I saved the little spools also.

Ok, this is the rooster box that I am not crazy about, what can I do with this?

Roadside treasures

My Mom found a box full of treasures that someone had put out for garbage, so she brought it up for me, as she doesn't have much room for anything else in her house. Whoever threw these things away must have had an Americana theme and got tired of it, because everything has red, white & blue on it. There were only 2 items that I did not keep, a picture that I wasn't crazy about and a box with a rooster on it.

This star had a bunch of red & white flowers and an americana ribbon on it. I took them off and will use this out in my flower garden this summer.

A little basket that now resides in my bedroom with some ivy in it.

Cute little rocker.

An Americana shelf, there are wrought iron stars on the sides which are hard to see in this photo, haven't found a place to hang this yet.

There are still more items that were in the box and I will post some more tomorrow.

Long time in the making

I've had this guy for a few years, my Mom bought the pattern for me for Christmas a few years back and I put him in my craft cabinet as he is made with 2-liter soda bottle and I don't buy soda in the bottles to often, we buy soda by the case. So he got put away and on the few occasions that I did buy a 2-liter, I would forget to save the bottle. A few weeks ago when I had nothing else to work on, I took him out and started working on him as I knew I would have some soda bottles from my Christmas party, and I actually remembered to save the bottle this time..lol. I finally got him done Saturday night and showed him to my Mom yesterday when she came for a visit. She said it's about time that I got him done. :)

Big Sheep

My herd of sheep that I finally got done. Been working on these guys for about 2 weeks, they seem to have taken forever to get done. Think I will list a couple on ebay and see if I have any luck.

My Candle Deal

Yankee Candle had a 70 percent off sale the other week and I took advantage of it even though they didn't have much left. I got a 22oz. full size jar candle, a gift set containing a 3.7 oz jar candle and 4 votives, 2 packages of a votive holder and 4 votives and 3 car jar air fresheners. I got all that for $22 and some change and that is with shipping included. I love Yankee Candles, they are my favorite brand of candles. I always have candles burning when we are home so we go though lots of them. I have a stocked cabinet now, as my Mom had just given me some and I bought some from a deal Kohl's was having online also.

New blog

Found this new blog tonight and she has some great craft idea and lots of free graphics to use.
My favorite craft is what she did to a bookcase, she stenciled words on the edges. I have a bookcase in my spare bedroom that I think I will try this on, it's already painted black too.

DMC Floss

This post is for Rosemary, she wanted to know what kind of thread I use for my samplers, so I thought I would show her a picture. It is DMC floss, it comes in 6 strands that you can pull apart if you want to. I usually use 3 strands for my samplers. You can buy it at any major craft store.

Corners of my Home

Here are a few pictures of my bedroom. The first one is a soda crate hung on the wall, inside is a rabbit holding a little flag pillow and my marriage sampler that I made.

Top of my tv cabinet, just a strand of pip berries, a big black basket and a candle holder that I bought in New Hamsphire.

I took the Williamsburg pottery pieces that were on the shelf and put them in my china cabinet in the kitchen, so I just threw the sheep on the shelf for now. I know I need something else as it looks funny that there is a sheep and bowl on top and bottom of the shelf.

Bowl full of americana hearts that I made on dh's dresser.

Changes to my cabinet

I made some changes to my china cabinet, I wanted to show off some of my pottery and bowls that were being hidden in cabinets because I had no place for them. So I took out the china and put them in there. It looks a little empty compared to when the china was in there, but that just means I get to buy some more pieces to fill it up. It looks weird seeing something else in there besides the china and will take some getting used to, but I like the way it looks now. Nice and simple, although I do have a blue & yellow theme going on..lol. Oh, and I added the toolbox that I bought at the antique store to the top of the cabinet, love how it looks up there. (Oh I just noticed that I need to center the small plates on the 2nd shelf, lol)

A few things

Just a few things from my Mom's house. The first is a birdhouse cabinet that she got at a yard sale, it opens up and has 3 shelves for storage.

This is her soda crate wagon full of boyds bears that she got at yard sales or thrift stores.

A big light up birdhouse bought from ebay.

Quilts

Here are a few quilts that my Mom made, the one with the houses she has hanging from her quilt rack in her living room. The other 2 are not finished yet, they are just the tops for now. The purple one is for my sister. She has made a lot more but sold them. They are lap quilts, not full size quilts. Still need to find a green material so she can make one for me.

Handmade Presents

These are two presents that I made for Mom for Christmas. I bought a pillow from ebay that resembles the one that I made and I also bought a sheep like this one at a yard sale this summer. Just used them as patterns and altered them to the way I wanted. I think they both turned out great.

Last Snowman

Finally got this guy done yesterday. He took awhile to make, between all the pieces and waiting for him to dry. I've started letting the pieces dry by themselves rather then baking them as I like the way they turn out by doing that. I did have to cut the candy cane down as the one in the pattern came out almost as big as the snowman himself. Don't know what happened there. He is packed away and ready for next year though.

New bowls

Just wanted to share with you all the new mixing bowls that I got at Wal-Mart yesterday . They were on clearance for $11.00 but I had a $10 gift card that I got somewhere so I only paid $1.00 for them. Also got some garland and some wrapping paper for next year. The garland is the bendable kind and was .45 the paper was a 4 pack for $1.70, so I bought 2 packs of that. They did not have much left.

Bright Idea

Found this on the internet while searching one day. What a great way to use up old jars. Just paint and add candles. Think I will make some for those summer nights when we are sitting out back.

sheep

A couple of sheep that I made. The one with the flag I did awhile ago but I gave it a tea bath yesterday. The other one just needs a hanger added to it yet.

Happy New Year

Hope you all have a Happy & Healthy New Year. We did not do anything last night except stay home and watch the ball drop. Now that the holidays are over I hope to get back to crafting and getting some stuff done. I will be working on some things that I have cut out but haven't found the time to finish until today. So hopefully later today or tomorrow I can finally show you all something again. Took all the holiday decorations down last week so that is done and over with and the house looks empty once again. It is snowing outside again today, another 2 to 4 inches for today on top of the 2 inches we got yesterday. I am so ready for summer, give me 80 degree weather any day. Have a Happy New Year everyone, make it a good one.
